Developing leadership skills:

Jamie is a manager in local government. He was selected by his organisation to undertake coaching to further develop leadership skills

"I really enjoyed working with Kay ...her approach put me at ease and her ability to get me to identify and then reflect on the things I need to improve on.  The skills learned from my work with Kay are not just a one-off result, I will use what I have learned for the rest of my working life.

I have really benefitted from working with Kay in that I am now more decisive, I am empowering staff by giving them the opportunity to work on more complex issues that I was previously holding onto and I have more confidence in my own ability to perform all my tasks.  I would recommend any type of leadership coaching to anyone and I would certainly recommend Kay".

Managing change and transitions

Mark is now CEO of his own global start-up. Formerly VP of Strategy and Business Development for a large telecommunication company, he began working with Kay when he was needing a sounding board as he navigated a major transition.

"Having you in my corner was a dependable and very welcome tail wind in the face of significant challenges. I found your approach of looking at the total person in accessing what to put forward at what time was novel and highly effective. I was also impressed with the broad range of tools you drew from. The personal experiences you wove in really made the content come alive".

Wendy was CEO of a nonprofit organization. New in the role, she canvassed resource planning and strategies for change. Reconnecting to her authentic leadership style and values, she settled into her role confidently and now meets with me as issues arise.

"Kay always seems to strike that right balance of instilling confidence and self-belief, while purposefully challenging those things that really do need to be challenged. It’s not always comfortable, but it's always worthwhile!"

Julie was starting her own business and clarifying her direction. She discovered unresolved issues from a previous role that were holding her back. Once she dealt with those, she set the direction and focus of the business around her unique talents.

"With Kay’s support and guidance I was able to work through a challenging transition in my life, as well as develop tools that will stay with me forever. Not only did I learn a lot about myself, my vision became crystal clear. Without doubt this was the best investment in myself that I’ve ever made".

Embracing uncertainty

‘D’ is an academic who is reliant on grants to fund his work. He was finding this very stressful. By reconnecting to his vision, he focused on what he could do rather than worrying about what he might not be able to do.

"Having a mentor requires an open mind and commitment but ultimately it’s a rewarding and empowering experience with positive impacts extending way beyond the work environment".

Managing people and priorities

'E' is a global leader in her field with little training or experience in managing people. She is often inundated with requests for her time and expertise and lacked the confidence to say ‘No’ or to ask for the support she needed.

"The opportunity to work with Kay has been an enormous benefit, both personally and in improving my efficacy and productivity in all facets of work. Developing practical strategies to build my self-belief, prioritise areas of importance, and recognise strengths in others has enhanced my leadership capacity".

Nurturing Potential

Karen is a medical researcher. Kay relishes the opportunity to nurture her enormous talent and potential by providing a sounding board for study as well as personal issues that distract her from her focus from time to time.

"It is so inspiring and helpful to talk to someone candidly about personal and career matters, and receive feedback that has come from personal experience and not just theoretical knowledge. Kay has an excellent balance of empathy, consideration and professionalism. It is an absolute privilege to have Kay Hannaford as my mentor".
